Why Was The ABCs of Anti-Counterfeiting Written?
The ABCs of Anti-Counterfeiting was written to make knowledge developed through study, design, project work, and teaching more accessible. It is knowledge that readers can learn, revisit, and use beyond a training session. (Amir) Hossein Yavari’s purpose in writing the book is to offer a way to understand counterfeiting and the reasoning behind prevention before turning to the choice of a tool, technology, or product.
Part of this perspective comes from his professional experience in printing and packaging, security design, document examination, and authentication. That work began before his collaboration with Paya System Behestan and continued through his collaboration with the company from the Iranian year 1390. Research and development, together with the needs encountered in organizations and businesses, have provided opportunities to connect theoretical principles with practical problems.
Teaching has also been part of this work. Sharing experience with managers and specialists through workshops and specialist training provided opportunities to explain concepts and discuss their applications. In recent years, growing professional responsibilities and project commitments across the country have left less time for in-person training. Writing the book is a way to continue that teaching and make it more accessible, so that learning does not depend on attending an event or meeting the author.
The book brings practical experience together with study and analysis. Its aim is to help readers understand foundational concepts, see the relationship between vulnerabilities and preventive measures more clearly, and ask more precise questions when assessing claims or choosing a solution. Technologies and products are introduced in support of that understanding: which problem does a solution address, and under what conditions might it be useful?
The ABCs of Anti-Counterfeiting is an effort to record and share part of this knowledge and experience. It continues an educational undertaking in a form that allows readers to study gradually, review what they have learned, and return to it when needed.
This release presents only the section “The Need to Prevent Counterfeiting”, in seven chapters. Other parts of the book are not yet available in this collection.
